I believe I may have even been honored to wear it a few times, myself...!Carr525https://www.blogger.com/profile/14177101448063660959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610793243623090328.post-8973735217532452102009-04-04T08:53:00.000-07:002009-04-04T08:53:00.000-07:00So picture this: you've paid $40 (12 years ago) fo...So picture this: you've paid $40 (12 years ago) for a carefully chosen sweater for above-mentioned son for Christmas, knowing if you don't get it "right," he won't be wearing it. He seems to really like it, wears it once or twice over the Christmas holidays and you know you got it 'right.' Which doesn't often happen.

A couple of months later, you are going to some big family get-together and you think of how handsome your son looked in that sweater and suggest that he wear it. You know, out of love and devotion for his mom.

When you ask, you are told, "Mom, it is such a GREAT sweater that the whole band loves it. We all take turns wearing it! We now call it the band sweater!"
"So... where is it?"
"Um, I don't know. I think Brian might have it this weekend."
"Can you call Brian and tell him you'd like to have it?"
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? No way I would do that. I'll get a turn to wear it soon, don't worry."
I never saw that sweater again. Not on my son or my daughter - and actually I was never in the right place or time to see it on any of their friends either.

And actually, I DO get it, from the perspective of a 16-year-old. I do. But as a mom, nothing at all made me eager to buy yet another perfect sweater when Christmas rolled around again!! :-)Pollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08016991455828976733noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610793243623090328.post-20951943758706452472009-04-02T16:19:00.000-07:002009-04-02T16:19:00.000-07:00I'll bet your mom understands now that you have pu...I'll bet your mom understands now that you have put it in such eloquent words!

And I think the current term is "band geek." My 16 year-old niece, Ashlee, is in San Diego with a group of them right now! You should see her corkboard...it is full of Band Flair! ;)my3boyshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00475926458771007903noreply@blogger.com
