Excerpts from Lamentations
I have unanswered prayers.
I have trouble I wish wasn't there.
I have asked a thousand ways
that you would take my pain away,
that you would take my pain away.
Bitterly she weeps at night,
tears are upon her cheeks.
There is none to comfort her.
This is why I weep
and my eyes overflow with tears.
No one is near to comfort me,
no one to restore my spirit.
I am trying to understand
How to walk this weary land.
Make straight the paths that crooked lie
O Lord, before these feet of mine,
O Lord, before these feet of mine.
When my world is shaking,
heaven stands.
When my heart is breaking,
I never leave your hands.
My eyes fail from weeping,
I am in torment within,
my heart is poured out on the ground.
Your wound is as deep as the sea.
Who can heal you?
When you walked upon the earth,
You healed the broken, lost, and hurt.
I know you hate to see me cry.
One day you will make all things right.
Yes, one day you will make all things right.
For men are not cast off by the Lord forever.
Though he brings grief,
he will show compassion,
so great is his unfailing love.
For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief
to the children of men.

heaven stands.
When my heart is breaking,
I never leave your hands...
I called upon your name,
O Lord,
from the depths of the pit.
You heard my plea:
"Do not close your ears to my cry for relief."
You came near when I called you,
and you said, "Do not fear."
Your hands...
Your hands that shape the world,
are holding me still -
they hold me still.
Arise, cry out in the night,
as the watches of the night begin;
pour out your heart like water
in the presence of the Lord.
When my world is shaking,
heaven stands.
When my heart is breaking,
I never leave you.
Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:
Because of the Lord's great love,
we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself,
"The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him."
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him;
It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

You have woven these together so beautifully and effectively. It is, indeed, Sacred Space.

My husband passed away last May, he was only a couple months older than your husband. My friend gave me some songs to listen to during my grief, and that song is one of them. I love how it puts the pain to song, and the picture of His hands. I appreciate your putting the Lamentations with it. I have been reading mostly the Psalms and Job, but I think I might need to read Lamentations. Thank you for your words!
