Freedom to Lament

Lament is a cry of belief in a good God,
a God who has His ear to our hearts,
a God who transfigures the ugly into beauty.

Complaint is the bitter howl of unbelief in any benevolent God in this moment,
a distrust in the love-beat of the Father's heart.

... the more I learn His love...
the more I genuinely lament,
complaint that trusts His heart.

This is what I'm wrestling through right now. I believe that God is who he says he is. If he says he's good, then I choose to believe it. I think that my definition of good and his just must be different, and I want to know his.

Tricia, a friend told me about your blog but warned me not to read it just yet. My daughter is in the hospital battling pneumonia. Your story inspires me and I hope hers touches you. Read about Harper at www.thecauleygirls.blogspot.com .
